Description

Discover one of the most inventive, accessible and joyfully surprising printmaking techniques around! In this full-day workshop, Veteran Artists Kelly Manning and Kat Rae will introduce you to the art of Tetrapak printing, a process born in Italy during the 2020 lockdown and originally printed using domestic pasta makers. Ingenious, sustainable and wildly creative, Tetrapak printmaking opens up endless possibilities for texture, tone and experimentation.

Kelly will share insights from her 2023 Venice artist residency, where she created an entire collagraph series using this technique, and Kat will guide you through the practical steps of designing, carving, inking and printing your own Tetrapak plates. Throughout the day you'll explore a mix of structured instruction and free play, producing a series of prints that showcase the unique, expressive qualities of this medium.

No prior printmaking experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Expect a fun, collaborative day of making, learning, laughing and discovering the limitless potential of Tetrapak printing.

As this is a full-day workshop, there will be a break for lunch. Bring your lunch along or pop out and grab something in the local area; we will enjoy a meal together amidst the Tetrapak chaos!

This workshop is open to the Veteran Community.
