Description
Life drawing is the foundation of all figurative art; a practice that sharpens perception, deepens concentration and trains the eye to see truthfully.
In this session, we begin the process of learning how to see rather than simply to look. Working from the live model, participants will explore proportion, gesture and structure through exercises designed to build confidence and accuracy.
We’ll begin with simple techniques for measuring and observing, learning how to judge relationships between key reference points of the body and capture the figure’s overall rhythm and balance. You’ll practice quick gestural sketches to loosen the hand and longer studies to refine observation. Through discussion and demonstration, we’ll examine how light, line, and form reveal the underlying anatomy and movement of the human body.
This class is not about producing a perfect drawing; it’s about learning to observe the living form with sensitivity and attention. With regular practice, these skills become the cornerstone of a sustainable art practice, supporting all forms of creative expression.
By the end of the session, you’ll have the essential tools to begin your own life drawing journey and a renewed appreciation for the discipline of seeing.
This workshop is open to the Veteran Community.
