Description

Bring the kids, bring a picnic and bring ALL the colour! FOVA Family Day is a bright, joyful celebration designed for Veteran Community families of every shape and size: a chance to play, create, connect and show off your most colourful outfits.

12:00pm – Picnic lunch in Fawkner Park

Unroll your picnic blanket, enjoy lunch in the sunshine and meet other Veteran families in a relaxed, welcoming space. Kids can play, grown-ups can chat and everyone can soak up the festival atmosphere. Following lunch, we will make our way to the ANMC through the park, showcasing all our colour.

1:30pm – 3:00pm | Family Gallery at the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre (ANMC)

The Family Gallery will take place at the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre, where families are invited to help create a living gallery alongside the FOVA26 Veteran Artist in Residence (VAIR). Throughout the afternoon, kids and adults can make their own artworks and place them on display within the ANMC space. As the afternoon unfolds, the Family Gallery will grow into a vibrant exhibition made entirely by attendees.

These artworks will remain on display for the duration of FOVA26, becoming a joyful, collaborative testament to community creativity.

Wet Weather Plan:

If the weather turns uncooperative, don’t worry, the parade and gallery will move indoors to the ANMC so the fun can continue.

A bright, creative and joy-filled afternoon for the whole family. The perfect way to experience FOVA together.

This event is open to the Veteran Community.

What to bring

BYO picnic; all maker materials provided at ANMC. ANMC is the contingency in case of inclement weather or issues at the park.
