Description

This relaxed, creative workshop is designed for writers of all experience levels, from the curious to the published, and focuses on exploring the building blocks of strong storytelling without getting bogged down in heavy technique.

Across three hours, you’ll be introduced to core concepts like three-act structure, character development, summary vs. scene, showing vs. telling, point of view and voice and tone. You’ll get to experiment with these ideas through writing exercises and guided prompts that help you unlock new story possibilities.

You’ll also have opportunities to:

  • Collaborate in pairs or small groups to come up with story ideas and get the creative juices flowing

  • Try short bursts of individual writing to put concepts into practice

  • Learn from other participants about what works for them when it comes to writing (so please be prepared to share some of your own experiences)

  • Share snippets with the group in a low-pressure, supportive environment

  • The session is less about producing polished work and more about creative exploration, discovering what excites you on the page, what kind of stories you want to tell and how to start shaping them with confidence.

This workshop is perfect for anyone who loves imagination, experimentation and seeing where a good (or not so good) idea can lead.

This workshop is open to the Veteran Community.
