Description

How many of us feel awkward or unsure when we are ‘in the spotlight’? I do. I want my time being in the spotlight to be over… The lens captures this energy I am feeling and the mask I put on to keep the real me out of the spot light.

The lens being pointed at me is a barrier to connecting to the person behind the lens, something my mind latches onto and keeps me out of the flow of things, a block to creating something with my authentic self being seen versus being captured in my awkwardness.

I have been this person behind the lens on my journey with photography & videography. I was focussed on capturing what I was seeing through my lens, instead of connecting with the person directly, letting my lens fade out of focus, and help them ease into the moment and find their flow.

What will we do in this workshop?

  • This will be a mixture of me sharing how I approach connecting with people before, during and after a shoot, and us practicing how this could unfold for you

  • An AMA (ask me anything) session for any questions or scenarios you have in mind; this could include things that are focussed on questioning / interviewing techniques through to more technical / gear focussed questions. You are more than welcome to submit any of these prior to the workshop as well.

Who is this workshop for?

  • Anyone who sits on either side of the lens (or microphone) and wants to create or co-create with more authenticity and flow.

This workshop is open to the Veteran Community.

What to bring

Please bring a camera if you have one (this includes whatever your phone is) so that you can practice with your own gear.
